The Rasheen Ali pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 57 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
The Dixon value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Graham Barton, who had no business lasting to the 41st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Trey Benson in the 88th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Mahogany in No. 91 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cole Bishop at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
A conviction pick on Jordan Jefferson at pick 169 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rasheen Ali at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Johnny Dixon in Round 6, Pick 44, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Sam Hartman at the 245th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jalen Coker in slot 255. It fills a real need, too.
