The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Vidal. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Packers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Bo Nix and all.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a quarterback like Bo Nix reach the 41st overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyler Guyton at the 57th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mike Sainristil at No. 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 29. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board had Johnny Dixon higher than pick 139, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kimani Vidal in pick No. 203 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Jawhar Jordan, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Darius Muasau in slot 219 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Eric Gentry in the 246th overall pick. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
