Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Packers.

The rest of the league had time to spare on MarShawn Lloyd; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 29 spots ahead at pick 99.

Mims falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 33
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Nubin at Round 2, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 21
They barely believed it either: Amarius Mims still on the board at the Round 2 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 59
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 83
Mike Sainristil at No. 88 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 80
Value with a capital V on Christian Mahogany in the 92nd overall pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.36 · Pick 99 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 128
MarShawn Lloyd at pick No. 99 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 99
Blake Fisher in pick 103 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 151
Braelon Allen at pick No. 125 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 134
Kamal Hadden in slot 135 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Jaheim Bell · TE · rank 135
Jaheim Bell at the 139th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 190
A tidy bit of business in No. 203, where Christian Jones graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 233
Matthew Jones at the 217th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 222
Steele Chambers at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 266
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cody Simon this early at Round 7, Pick 26. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Trey Wedig · OT · rank 260
A reach on Trey Wedig in No. 250; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
