The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Ali. The cost of the Jones reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The Mustapha pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
