This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jarrian Jones, the No. 123 name on the board, stolen at the Round 5 slot. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Cephus reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that.
Jordan Morgan in No. 44 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a cornerback like Kamari Lassiter reach pick 59 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Troy Fautanu at slot 66 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Jeremiah Trotter Jr. come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Brenden Rice at pick No. 88 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 28 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 104th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ray Davis at pick No. 125 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 135 with a little surplus value in Javon Foster. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Malik Mustapha in pick 140; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jarrian Jones in No. 164 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Jones at the 203rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Curtis Jacobs in the 217th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Emani Bailey at Round 6, Pick 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Joshua Cephus at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jawhar Jordan in pick No. 246, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
