Green Bay Packers

Robinson should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B.

Call it larceny. Chop Robinson sat on the board until No. 88, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The Mettauer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In pick No. 25 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
The board fumbled Kool-Aid McKinstry all the way to No. 41, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
Taking Dallas Turner in pick 57 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
Chop Robinson in slot 88 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 130
No edge and no loss on MarShawn Lloyd in Round 4, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 139
Malik Mustapha at the 135th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
Jaylen Wright at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 184
Michael Barrett at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 242
They reached into another round for Matthew Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Joshua Cephus · WR · rank 239
Joshua Cephus at pick No. 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · McKade Mettauer · OG · rank 280
This one needs a full-page explanation: McKade Mettauer in the 246th pick, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 257
No drama and no debate, Dwight McGlothern went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 30. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
