No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

Some picks age like wine; Matthew Jones at No. 217 will need to, sitting 25 spots clear of his grade.

They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging. Barrett at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 22
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 46
No drama and no debate, Calen Bullock went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 9. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 66
A surprising call. With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 57 on Javon Bullard, a safety they were not short of.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 82
Mike Sainristil in pick 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 95
Zak Zinter in the 95th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 130
They paid sticker price for MarShawn Lloyd in the 125th overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 138
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at Round 4, Pick 32, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 139
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Malik Mustapha adds a safety while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
Jaylen Wright at pick 140 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 184
Michael Barrett in the 203rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 242
Matthew Jones in the 217th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Joshua Cephus · WR · rank 239
Joshua Cephus at No. 219 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 240
A clean, defensible pick in slot 246 with a little surplus value in Nathaniel Watson. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
