The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Michael Barrett slide 36 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

The Jones reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
