The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Javon Bullard, the No. 66 name on the board, in the 91st pick.
With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Cephus reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 9 with a little surplus value in Kamren Kinchens. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had T.J. Tampa higher than No. 57, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Payton Wilson still on the board at the 88th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A curious use of pick No. 91. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Javon Bullard did not.
MarShawn Lloyd at the 125th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

Christian Jones at pick 203 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Rasheen Ali in Round 6, Pick 42 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wild overpay on Joshua Cephus in pick 219, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Eric Gentry at No. 246 squarely in line with his ranking. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
