The Packers put a flag in the ground for Isaac Guerendo, 50 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The McGlothern value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Terrion Arnold slipping to the 33rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
You do not let a safety like Tyler Nubin reach No. 58 and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Zach Frazier in the 65th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Legette at pick No. 88. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A want over a need in pick 93: Renardo Green adds a safety while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 127 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Jarrian Jones all the way to Round 5, Pick 32, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Dwight McGlothern was still sitting there in slot 204, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Matthew Jones in No. 216, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 243rd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kenny Logan Jr. in pick 251 is fair value, right on his grade. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
