The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Trey Taylor, taking him 46 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at pick 34, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Zach Frazier in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Jaylen Wright in No. 68 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Khyree Jackson in slot 88 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Cam Hart went about where he belonged in the 91st overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tykee Smith in the 127th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Jones at No. 168 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tanor Bortolini in slot 204 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
A conviction pick on Tyler Owens at the Round 6 slot that the board grades a round light. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Rasheen Ali at pick No. 243. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Taylor at Round 7, Pick 31 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
