They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Trey Taylor, 54 picks early at No. 243. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Getting Nubin where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Jackson Powers-Johnson went about where he belonged in No. 25. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 11, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a safety like Tyler Nubin reach slot 58 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A tidy little value on Khyree Jackson in the 88th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac Guerendo. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Tykee Smith while clear needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Joe Milton III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid up for Tyler Owens at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Trey Taylor at No. 243 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kimani Vidal at the 251st pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
