They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Dallas Gant, 68 picks early at Round 7, Pick 32. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Jackson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Morgan at the 46th overall pick is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A real head-scratcher, Jaden Hicks in pick No. 58 is miles ahead of his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kiran Amegadjie at No. 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at slot 88, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Max Melton at the 91st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Khyree Jackson at slot 126 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kitan Oladapo at the 169th overall pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 202 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid up for Edefuan Ulofoshio at No. 219 when waiting would have done the job. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They took Bub Means at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Dallas Gant at Round 7, Pick 32 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They talked themselves into Frank Crum at the 255th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
