A sensible, unshowy class lands the Packers a B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 255th overall pick on Trey Taylor, a name the board had a full 42 spots lower. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 43
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in the 42nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 79
They reached into another round for Jaylen Wright, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 91
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in No. 88. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Renardo Green · S · rank 112
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Renardo Green. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 111
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at the 107th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 132
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at pick 125, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 149
Jarrian Jones at Round 5, Pick 30 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 156
Kitan Oladapo at the 168th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 217
They paid a round early for Tanor Bortolini in slot 201, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 225
Tip Reiman at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 250
Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 245 is fair value, right on his grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 297
Trey Taylor at the 255th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
