The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Jordan Travis slide 45 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

The Taylor pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In slot 25 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 42
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 9 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 60
No drama and no debate, Javon Bullard went about where he belonged in No. 58. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 84
A tidy little value on Khyree Jackson in pick 88, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 111
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac Guerendo. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 137
A reach for Christian Jones in the 126th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 159
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mason McCormick in pick No. 169. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 157
Jordan Travis at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 225
They took Tip Reiman at par in pick 219, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 226
Rasheen Ali at pick No. 245 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 297
Value said wait; Trey Taylor in the 255th pick says they were not listening. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
