Green Bay Packers

A passer of the future in Maye, and a B, for the Packers.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Packers committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Vidal reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Maye.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 5
In No. 25 they get their quarterback of the future, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 23
Somehow Troy Fautanu was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 9, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 48
They read the board right and Edgerrin Cooper was the payoff at the 58th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks at the 88th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 96
A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
Blake Fisher in pick No. 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 169
No edge and no loss on Kamal Hadden in slot 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 252
Kimani Vidal in pick 202 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 236
They liked Edefuan Ulofoshio enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 219. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 255
A reach on Tyler Owens in the 245th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 267
They paid up for Trey Taylor at No. 255 when waiting would have done the job. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
