The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 100 spots for Dallas Gant, and value like that does not grow back.
The Beebe value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Javon Bullard in the 41st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to pick 58. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board fumbled Cooper Beebe all the way to slot 88, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Brenden Rice slipping to Round 4, Pick 6 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at the 126th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamal Hadden in Round 5, Pick 33 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Braiden McGregor at pick 182 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Rouse at the 202nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tyler Owens in pick No. 219 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Value said wait; Dallas Gant in No. 221 says they were not listening. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They reached a country mile for Frank Crum at slot 245, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Kenny Logan Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
