Thirty-one other rooms let Brandon Dorlus slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at slot 168. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: JC Latham at pick 41 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Edgerrin Cooper come to them and pounced at the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Kris Jenkins still on the board at the 91st pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Renardo Green at the 126th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They jumped the gun on Tykee Smith, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Brandon Dorlus in slot 168, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kamal Hadden in Round 5, Pick 33 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 170 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Cody Schrader at pick 202 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in slot 219, where Logan Lee graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Joe Milton III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Dominique Hampton all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
