The Dallas Gant selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 66 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
That Reiman pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Nice patience on Cooper DeJean, who had no business lasting to pick 41. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where T'Vondre Sweat graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Fair-plus on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Beaux Limmer in Round 3, Pick 36 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Cedric Gray come to them and pounced at No. 126. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Malik Mustapha at pick No. 155, and it noticed. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Value said wait; Tanor Bortolini in pick 169 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kendall Milton in slot 202 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tight end of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Bub Means in No. 219 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 245th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in the 254th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Dallas Gant at pick 255 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
