The rest of the league will want that one back. Mason McCormick tumbling to the Packers in the 245th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Gant has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow JC Latham was still sitting there in pick 41, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Graham Barton still on the board at Round 2, Pick 29. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Payton Wilson in slot 63, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jaden Hicks at the 88th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the 96th pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Isaac Guerendo in No. 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Brenden Rice at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in the 166th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tykee Smith at pick 169 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They took Joe Milton III at par in Round 6, Pick 27, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nathaniel Watson at slot 219 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Mason McCormick reach No. 245 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Dallas Gant at the 251st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Marcellas Dial slid further than he should have, and pick No. 255 is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
