The Packers spent real capital to be 76 picks early on Dallas Gant, and the board is going to hold them to it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Means steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Hit on Jackson Powers-Johnson and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
They paid up for Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A wild overpay on Jaden Hicks in Round 2, Pick 26, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Khyree Jackson in the 88th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in the 91st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at pick 126 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malik Mustapha at pick 169 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They paid sticker price for Joe Milton III in pick No. 202, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nathaniel Watson in No. 219. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A real head-scratcher, Dallas Gant in the 245th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bub Means in the 255th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
