The rest of the league had time to spare on Dallas Gant; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 76 spots ahead at pick No. 245.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. On value alone, Odunze makes the weekend a net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jaden Hicks in the 58th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Khyree Jackson at the 88th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaac Guerendo at slot 91 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Fisher slid further than he should have, and pick No. 126 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Kamal Hadden in the 169th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malik Mustapha at pick 178. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A reach for Nathaniel Watson in the Round 6 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Bub Means at the 219th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dallas Gant at slot 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 35 squarely in line with his ranking. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
