The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cody Schrader, the No. 174 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The Lee reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on T'Vondre Sweat, who had no business lasting to No. 58. It fills a real need, too.
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at slot 63. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Sedrick Van Pran was the payoff at pick 83. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Circle this one: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 3, Pick 25 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, MarShawn Lloyd at pick No. 112. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid a round early for Jarrian Jones in the 124th pick, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tykee Smith in the 126th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Malik Mustapha at No. 148 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A straight-up fair deal on Jalyx Hunt at the 154th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Logan Lee at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They jumped the gun on Nathaniel Watson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Bub Means at slot 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Cody Schrader was still sitting there in the 229th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Tyler Owens at pick 245, and it noticed. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Frank Crum. The roster fit checks out.
