Nobody had Taulia Tagovailoa this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 61 spots to get him at the 245th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
On value alone, Pritchett makes the weekend a net positive. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in No. 41, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nothing to complain about; Chris Braswell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Calen Bullock went about where he belonged in the 88th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
MarShawn Lloyd at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Erick All at pick 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Nehemiah Pritchett in pick 169, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nathaniel Watson. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Julian Pearl at the 219th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Taulia Tagovailoa this early at pick No. 245. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach for Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 7 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
