The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Packers walked right past. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Colson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Knox pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Tyler Guyton in pick 41 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 57 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Junior Colson, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Bucky Irving at No. 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Sataoa Laumea in slot 126, just ahead of his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trey Knox in Round 5, Pick 32 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
They took Braiden McGregor at par in the 203rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Myles Jones at Round 6, Pick 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trey Taylor in No. 243 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Anthony Gould. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
