Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Dylan Fairchild at slot 211 is 91 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Stutsman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on TreVeyon Henderson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Wyatt Milum at No. 118 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Sonny Styles was the payoff at pick No. 147. It adds depth where they could use a little.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Burch in pick 198, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dylan Fairchild well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jack Nelson at the 216th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
