Call it larceny. Jeffrey Bassa sat on the board until the 250th pick, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They are betting Ezeiruaku proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Donovan Ezeiruaku at the 56th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Andrew Mukuba in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy bit of business in the 125th overall pick, where Savion Williams graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Chris Paul Jr. in Round 5, Pick 21 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 199 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Ollie Gordon II all the way to pick 241, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let a linebacker like Jeffrey Bassa reach pick No. 250 and blink. They did not. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
