Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at No. 243. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in the 41st overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Malachi Corley at pick No. 58 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 25, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Blake Corum was the payoff at pick 91. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Renardo Green at No. 127 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Roger Rosengarten in the 168th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Kamal Hadden at slot 204 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jha'Quan Jackson in slot 216 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tayvion Robinson in the 251st overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
