Call it larceny. Jha'Quan Jackson sat on the board until pick No. 204, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Bills lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let Troy Fautanu come to them and pounced at the 41st overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Javon Bullard in pick No. 58, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
DJ James in No. 88 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cedric Gray at the 127th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No edge and no loss on Dillon Johnson in Round 5, Pick 32; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Jha'Quan Jackson at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Keaton Bills in the 216th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Sheridan Jones is a better player than slot 243 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Magee in the 251st overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
