They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Marshawn Kneeland, 43 picks early at pick 73.
The Cowing steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kris Abrams-Draine in the Round 2 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in pick No. 43, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Marshawn Kneeland at the 73rd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaylin Simpson in No. 82 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Beaux Limmer well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach on Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
DeWayne Carter in pick No. 187 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Jacob Cowing all the way to pick 217, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 219 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They did well to land Carson Steele in Round 7, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
