2025 NFL Draft
· 7 picks
· 0 steals
· 5 reaches
The Packers did not so much draft Davin Vann as overpay for him, 50 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bear Alexander. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Sonny Styles at No. 87 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They talked themselves into Germie Bernard at pick 119, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Seth McLaughlin at the 151st overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Value said wait; Jack Kiser in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They reached into another round for Davin Vann, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
