The Trey Taylor selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 100 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The final tally is a middling C+.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had cheaper options than Payton Wilson at slot 41, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Max Melton. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mason McCormick at the 88th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Khristian Boyd at the 91st overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaac Guerendo. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Trey Taylor at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Garret Greenfield at Round 6, Pick 27 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They talked themselves into Jalen Sundell at the 219th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trajan Jeffcoat in slot 245, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Owens at pick No. 255, value and slot in agreement. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
