There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Gabe Jacas, 105 picks ahead of schedule.
The Majors pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a true top target. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in the 76th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Deone Walker at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Andrew Mukuba in pick 125 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in Round 5, Pick 22, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
