The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Keith Randolph Jr., the No. 218 name on the board, in the 256th overall pick. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
They are betting Okie-Anoma proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
With quarterback and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Graham Barton at pick No. 41 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edgerrin Cooper in slot 58. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in No. 88, where Mike Sainristil graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 91st pick with a little surplus value in Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A quiet steal in pick 98: Trey Benson for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 126th overall pick on James Williams with quarterback and tight end unsolved.
Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A running back of that caliber at slot 202 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Zion Tupuola-Fetui, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Myles Murphy in Round 7, Pick 12, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Caedan Wallace all the way to No. 245, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Tyler Owens at par in pick No. 255, which is nothing to complain about. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Steal is underselling it; Keith Randolph Jr. at the 256th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in pick 257 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
