They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Khristian Boyd, 89 picks early at pick 88.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The trade work was a quiet net positive. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 26th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Payton Wilson at No. 43 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A big swing on Khristian Boyd at slot 88, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Luke McCaffrey well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Trey Taylor in pick 202 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
They did well to land Garret Greenfield in No. 219, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Carson Steele at pick No. 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Decamerion Richardson at Round 7, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
