Nobody else had Devin Leary anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Packers did, by 100 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They will answer for taking safety early while tight end and interior defensive lineman went begging. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 37
In slot 16 they get a ballhawk on the outside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 49
Jordan Morgan in pick 39 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 74
They reached a country mile for Sedrick Van Pran at No. 43, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 45
Calen Bullock at the 48th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Tory Horton · WR · rank 109
Tory Horton at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 120
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Junior Colson. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 99
Fair-plus on Braelon Allen, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 140
Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 116 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 145
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Malik Mustapha while clear needs at tight end and interior defensive lineman sat open.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Devin Leary · QB · rank 317
A big swing on Devin Leary at Round 6, Pick 42, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Brian Ugwu · DL-EDGE · rank 248
They paid up for Brian Ugwu at pick 232 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
