Whoever sat across the table from the Packers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
If Schrader pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The King value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a two-high chess piece. More want than need.
They went early on Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 11, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the 57th overall pick: Kalen King for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick No. 60 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Zak Zinter in slot 91 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Adams. It fills a real need, too.
Cody Schrader at pick 135 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
JD Bertrand slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Kenny Logan Jr. worth more than the price. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Joshua Cephus in slot 246 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
