You could see the war room lean forward. Steele Chambers at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 7 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the 25th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · T.J. Tampa · CB · rank 40
T.J. Tampa at slot 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 43
Byron Murphy II at No. 57 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 86
They took Marist Liufau at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 92
No edge and no loss on Bucky Irving in pick 92; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Isaiah Adams · OT · rank 123
Isaiah Adams in Round 4, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Malik Washington · WR · rank 118
They let Malik Washington come to them and pounced at pick No. 135. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 190
The board had Christian Jones higher than the 203rd pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 216
By-the-book stuff, Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick 217 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Isaiah Neyor · WR · rank 210
Isaiah Neyor slid further than he should have, and slot 219 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 222
The board fumbled Steele Chambers all the way to the 246th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
