The rest of the league had time to spare on Ezra Dotson-Oyetade; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 182 spots ahead at No. 250.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
A big swing on Jared Ivey at the 56th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Andrew Mukuba slid further than he should have, and pick 88 is lovely value for the safety. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Somehow Elic Ayomanor was still sitting there in the 125th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Will Lee III this early at Round 5, Pick 22. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A running back of that caliber at slot 199 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jonah Monheim at the 241st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; Ezra Dotson-Oyetade in No. 250 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
