Somebody in the 219th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Jarrian Jones, the No. 123 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Bottom line, with Olumuyiwa Fashanu leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: Cooper DeJean at Round 2, Pick 9 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Chop Robinson was still sitting there in pick 58, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Graham Barton at slot 88 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Renardo Green in No. 126 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Erick All at pick No. 169 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Nathaniel Watson went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 219th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Joe Milton III here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
