It is a puzzling start. The Packers had edge rusher, quarterback and other spots to solve and reached instead for Cole Bishop, a safety, at the 91st pick.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Bishop proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Nubin in No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
By-the-book stuff, Max Melton at Round 2, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Blake Corum in the 88th pick, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Cole Bishop in the Round 3 slot leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots for later.
Cedric Gray at slot 127 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid a round early for Caedan Wallace in the 168th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Jowon Briggs, who had no business lasting to pick 251. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
