The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Isaiah Davis, the 242nd overall pick, roughly 59 picks past where he belonged.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Amarius Mims in No. 39. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 2, Pick 21 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Payton Wilson in pick No. 70 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Marshawn Kneeland in the 107th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylin Simpson at the 186th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No edge and no loss on De'Corian Clark in pick 199; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Isaiah Davis in slot 242, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
