Call it belief, call it a gut call, but KJ Jefferson at pick No. 196 is 101 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
Skattebo falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Cam Skattebo in Round 5, Pick 21 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
KJ Jefferson in No. 196 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Brant Kuithe at pick 237 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Korey Foreman at slot 250 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
