The Carson Steele selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 71 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Jones steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get an island corner, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Cole Bishop in the 80th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Elijah Jones in No. 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tanor Bortolini at slot 169 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Sundell at the 245th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Carson Steele well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
