Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Le'Veon Moss, the No. 131 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 249.
The Packers indulged a want in Barron while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get a centerfielder for the defense, and a steal at that.
A curious use of No. 59. Edge rusher, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Jahdae Barron did not.
Jake Majors at the 90th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Jay Higgins at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Parker Brailsford at pick No. 163 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jackson still on the board at the 202nd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Le'Veon Moss was still sitting there in slot 249, and they pounced on premier running back value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
