They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Solomon Byrd, 38 picks early at the 219th overall pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Braswell. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They liked Edgerrin Cooper enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 9. A minor itch, scratched.
Chris Braswell in pick 58 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in the 88th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A clean, defensible pick in the 91st pick with a little surplus value in Trey Benson. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Roger Rosengarten at No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Joe Milton III in slot 169 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trevin Wallace this early at the Round 6 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A real head-scratcher, Solomon Byrd in No. 219 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jalen Sundell at pick No. 245 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Josh Proctor at the 255th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
