The trade table was a mismatch, and the Packers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The Trotter Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Tariq Woolen pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in the 39th overall pick, where Graham Barton graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Troy Fautanu in slot 43 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 3, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Rod Moore at pick No. 78, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Quinyon Mitchell all the way to No. 79, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Beau Brade while clear needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat open.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, James Williams adds a safety and leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots untouched.
