The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Cam Hart, the No. 104 name on the board, sitting there at No. 135 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Williams proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at No. 39 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
T.J. Tampa in the 43rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 3, Pick 11 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Christian Mahogany at the 82nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
James Williams at pick 111 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
You do not let a cornerback like Cam Hart reach pick No. 135 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
