The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Evan Williams slide 23 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Glaze reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at pick 41, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the 58th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. slipping to the 88th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Blake Corum at pick 91 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Brenden Rice, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Delmar Glaze in slot 169, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dominique Hampton at Round 6, Pick 27. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 219 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Taking Julian Pearl in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Evan Williams at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
