The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jordan Magee, the No. 222 name on the board, in slot 252.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 19 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Adisa Isaac in the 54th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trey Benson at the 95th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Renardo Green still on the board at slot 98. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 19 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Elijah Jones in pick No. 132 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sione Vaki. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Walter Rouse in Round 5, Pick 37. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Magee at No. 252 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
